Vulture Culture

  • The Himalayan Griffon Vulture is a bird of high mountain ranges - seldom breeding below 4,000 feet (1,200 m) and occurring at altitudes in excess of 20,000 feet (6,000 m).

  • The White Backed Vulture takes to the air a few hours after dawn, when the rising temperature offers good up-currents and remains airborne, except when feeding, until it returns to roost

  • The Himalayan Griffon Vulture has a wingspan of up to 3 meters.
