team_2011.jpgThe Parahawking season in Nepal is now over and will commence again on the 1st November 2011. Roll on Parahawking in Spain starting May 2011.

This season in Nepal has been one of the best so far. I know I say that every year but I truly mean it. We really do have the best jobs in the world, we get to put a smile of peoples faces everyday and in many cases make their dreams come true. For me it doesn't get any better than that.

But, as much as i'd like to, I can't take all the credit. I am lucky enough to get to work with some of the best people in the Paragliding and bird world. My team this year, (some of them pictured left) have been simply incredible and I can't thank them enough for being the people who they are, believing in what we do and being dedicated to the project. In fact, I'd like to name and thank them all individually:

Anita Hjertas (not pictured): Anita is the unsung hero of the Parahawking team. She's the oil that makes the wheels run smoothly, she's my organiser and my rock. She loves our birds and knows their personalities better than anyone, and the birds love her. It simply would not work as well as it does without her, simple! She's an incredible person and is about to add another string to her bow, mum to be any day now!

Heather Merewood (right): If we could clone her we would, she's simply one of the best bird trainers I have worked with. She's knowledgeable, compassionate, hard working, dedicated, friendly and always smiling, the list goes on. Whoever replaces her next season, beware, Heather has raised the bar pretty high! Thanks Heather, you've been an absolute rock star this season, you're welcome back anytime.

Elli Mota (middle): Elli's second season as my co-pilot and hopefully not her last. Elli genuinely loves the birds and loves flying with them, she's always smiling (and talking), she's got a great sense of humour and she's not a bad pilot either! Elli understands the importance of what we do and how important it is for our passengers to have a great experience. In fact i'd better watch out, she'll be taking my job next! Thanks for everything this season Elli.

Jessica Love (left): In fact if anybody is going to take my job it'll be Jess. Jess stepped in to cover for me during the season and again at the end of the season after Anita and I left for Thailand to have our baby. Jess, who's full of life and always smiling on and off the ground made Parahawking her own during the short time on the team but I sense that she'll be a regular in Nepal after this season. Jess, who has more energy and vitality than anyone I know, will be my co-pilot in Alicante, Spain this year so it looks like it'll be a fun summer all round. Thanks for jumping in at the deep end and just getting on with it!

I should also thank David Arrofat at Blue Sky Paragliding for allowing me to poach Jess from his talented and dedicated paragliding team and for the use of the Blue Sky takeoff for the entire season. Thanks David, I owe you!

Thanks also to the other people and pilots who have supported and/or flown for us this season, Claudio Mota, Ivan Ripoll, Bella Reibling, Graham SaundersGriffiths, Damodar Parajuli, Sano Babu Sunuwar and the rest of the Blue Sky Paragliding team and of course Nani, Raju, Yukesh, all the staff at Maya Devi and the Frontiers Paragliding office staff...

... and last but not least, a BIG thank you to all our passengers, we wouldn't and couldn't do it if it wasn't for you.

See you all next season.

Scott
